Our Story
A gallery for local artists
Occidental Gallery is the ground-floor public gallery of the Occidental Fine Arts Center in Pioneer Square. This room is for contemporary work by local artists — living paintings and sculpture being made in Seattle now. Walk in off the street. Admission is free.
We are not the whole Center. Upstairs, Occidental Fine Arts holds traditional art, workshops, and education — including the Beautiful Things exhibition. The gallery downstairs is the street-level way in: support for artists who work here, in this city.
Both rooms belong to the Conru Art Foundation, which also runs Art Love Salon downtown and the Coliseum of Art in the 1916 Coliseum Theatre. One family of public places. Different rooms, different jobs.

Art Love Salon

A 16,000 square foot downtown room hung wall to wall with art, plus live music, workshops, and art-walk nights. Free drop-in.
Coliseum of Art

A whole floor of Seattle’s 1916 Coliseum Theatre, filled with work by Seattle artists. Free, with nothing for sale.
Continuing a Pioneer Square gallery
In December 2025, Frederick Holmes & Company closed after twelve years in this Pioneer Square storefront. The Conru Art Foundation took stewardship of the space so a public gallery would stay on the street. Occidental Gallery is that next chapter: the same address, now devoted to contemporary local artists on the ground floor of the Center.
